This week I started my new coaching role with Bristol Rugby after a break away from the tracksuit. After helping the Scarlets reach last years Pro 12 Play Offs with a short coaching consultancy stint and assisting the Romanian National Team in their preparations for RWC 2015 Qualification (Romania finished joint top of the European Nations Cup in 2013), it was time for a new challenge. The opportunity former World Cup winning coach Andy Robinson presented was one I felt I couldn’t turn down. I am relishing the chance to help this great club get back to the English Premiership and to work in the English Leagues again after my time as a player at Loughborough University and as a coach at Hartpury College and Gloucester Rugby Club.
Having been in Wales at the Ospreys for the last decade or so, I am looking forward to being amongst the Bristol people, particularly the fans. I met a lot of Bristol Supporters on the recent Lions Tour (look out for the special Tour Gallery here soon). They clearly have a distinct local dialect!! So I took the opportunity to ask my good mate Gareth Chilcott, a true Bristolian, for some advice on speaking Bristolian.
Here’s what he had to say….(Check out Shane Williams taking it all in alongside him!!!)
