To mark the 10 years of Warren Gatland becoming Head Coach of the Wales National Rugby team, Sean hosted a special lunch event staged by The Events Room at Morgans Hotel in Swansea last Friday.
Warren Gatland was appointed Head Coach by the Welsh Rugby Union in November 2007 and in his first game in charge – against England at Twickenham in the 2008 Six Nations – Gatland selected 13 Ospreys players to start. Sean was of course Head Coach of the Ospreys at the time. Wales famously went on to win that game and then the Grand Slam.
Sean as the event host, presenter and auctioneer undertook a special ‘Warren Gatland’ charity Heads and Tails and then auctioned some impressive items such as a Warren Gatland signed Grog, shirt and commemorative photo montage, with £540 being raised for the designated charity of the day – Autism Puzzle Cymru
In an entertaining and honest interview Gatland spoke about the highs and lows of his time in Wales, about his Lions coaching experiences and about there up and coming Wales Tour and Japan World Cup.
During the Q&A session Warren and Sean were able to recount stories of the players they had coached during that time, Gatland of course appointing Sean to the Wales coaching staff in 2009.
The next Events Room function is with former wales and British and Irish Lions No.8 Scott Quinnell on Friday 15th June at Morgans Hotel. For more details on this event see HERE.
